Kathu and Koh Kaew can both enter a Phuket relocation shortlist, but the better choice depends on the exact home and your recurring destinations. Start with addresses for school, work, shopping and activities. A district label is not evidence of a short journey or convenient daily life.
Confirm the destinations first
The official QSI Phuket contact page identifies its Kathu location, while BISP's published contact details identify Koh Kaew. Confirm the relevant campus, entrance, availability and schedule directly before building a housing decision around a school. A nearby home does not guarantee admission or transport.
Create a route sheet from each candidate property. Include the last lane, gate queues, turning movements and parking. Test at the times you expect to travel, and include the return journey. Do not rely on a single off-peak drive or a straight-line distance.
Keep the property comparison fair
Hold bedroom count, condition, ownership requirements and total budget constant. Compare the driveway, grocery deliveries, household storage and access for maintenance. A spacious villa and a compact condo may answer different needs even when their headline prices overlap.
Check the street at more than one time. Note observed noise, construction and drainage questions for independent review. Keep actual observations separate from claims about future roads or developments. Neither area should be priced on an unverified infrastructure promise.
Trial the week before committing
For a remote move, request dated route evidence and arrange an in-person trial where practical. Include the activities you attend most often rather than only tourist attractions. Budget transport using current quotes and your own expected frequency.
For investment, assess lawful rental use, comparable occupier needs and documented costs separately from your personal preference. Proximity to a school or marina does not by itself establish occupancy or returns.
