The laid-back south and expat community
Phuket’s southern tip: quieter and greener, lots of expats, yachts and the seafood of Rawai, and the beautiful Nai Harn bay. For those who want to live rather than party, and for long winters.
Nai Harn is one of the prettiest southern bays with calm sea, a park and a lagoon. Small Ya Nui and Ao Sane bays nearby are good for snorkelling. Rawai isn’t for swimming (pier and island boats).
Seafood at Rawai market (pick and cooked for you), healthy and vegan cafes, calm bars near Nai Harn. An unhurried atmosphere.
Villas, apartments and condos for long stays. Nai Harn has nice options with views; Rawai is cheaper.
Grab and taxi (fewer songthaews); the airport is ~45–60 minutes, Patong ~30–40. A bike or car is almost essential here.

Villas, apartments and hotels with vetted hosts for your budget — in the right part of the area. An honest take on specific spots.
Yes, if you want calm, nature, an expat community and a long stay. For active holidays, shopping and nightlife, Patong or Karon are closer.
For long-stayers, remote workers and those who value a slow pace, yoga, fitness and seafood. Families find it peaceful too.
It’s the furthest area from the airport — ~45–60 minutes by car. A minus for short trips, but a plus for quiet on a long stay.
