Compare usable space, access and maintenance before paying for a bathroom feature.
A bathtub and a walk-in shower serve different routines in a Phuket home. The better purchase is the arrangement that fits the occupants and can be maintained properly. A large bathroom photograph does not show how comfortably someone can enter, wash, dry and reach their belongings.
Test the whole bathroom sequence
Locate the towel rail, toiletries, dressing space and route to the bedroom. Check whether opening a shower screen blocks a cupboard or whether a freestanding tub leaves awkward cleaning gaps. Measure the usable space around fittings rather than comparing room area alone.
Consider the people who will actually use the room. A shower marketed as walk-in may still have a threshold or other obstacles. A bathtub can require movements that do not suit every occupant. Where access or support matters, obtain an appropriate assessment of the actual installation; neither label establishes accessibility or safety.
Ask what sits behind the finish
Have a qualified inspector review drainage, waterproofing concerns, hot-water provision and access to serviceable components. Ask whether relevant plans and installation records are available. A sales demonstration of a tap does not establish performance when other bathrooms are being used.
For resale property, inspect the current condition and obtain maintenance history where available. For off-plan property, identify the specified fittings and substitution process. Do not assume changing a tub into a shower after completion is straightforward: permissions, drainage and the scope of professional work need checking first.
Price the feature realistically
Obtain quotations for cleaning, repairs or desired alterations and compare these with how often you expect to use the tub. For rentals, describe the installed arrangement accurately without claiming that one feature guarantees a higher nightly rate.

Fact-check flags: dimensions, accessibility, materials, condition, water systems, approved alterations and costs are unit-specific. Seek qualified technical advice; no safety or rental-performance conclusion follows from the fixture type alone.
Compare properties before you buy
Start with the location and buying goal. Compare handover dates, ownership options and payment terms; confirm the current price and availability for the selected unit.
