Map sleeping, bathing and shared routines for each household member before comparing floor plans.
A home that suits grandparents, parents and children needs more than enough bedrooms. The daily path between the entrance, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor areas must work for the people who will actually live there. Start with a household plan, then inspect a real property against it.
Write down the routines
List who will live in the home, who needs quiet or privacy, who may need help on stairs, and when different people sleep, work or study. Identify whether anyone needs a bedroom close to a bathroom, a ground-level route, room for a walking aid, or a separate place for carers and visiting relatives. These are personal requirements; a property listing cannot certify accessibility.
Walk the route in the actual home
Trace the route from parking to each bedroom, toilet, shower, kitchen and shared sitting area. Check thresholds, stair turns, door clearances, lighting at night, bathroom grip points and distance to a place to rest. Ask permission to measure tight spaces with the equipment a family member uses. Test whether daily conversations, television, cooking and outdoor activity would disturb someone needing rest.
Balance shared time with private space
Look at bedroom doors and windows from shared terraces, pool areas and corridors. A guest room reached through another bedroom may not provide the independence a relative expects. Ask what furniture, bathroom fittings and safety equipment are included, and record anything that must be installed later. Compare more than one routine and visit at a time when surrounding activity is representative.
Use the Phuket district guide, family property checklist and island living guide. Phuket Stay Pro can shortlist homes around your family’s routes and room requirements.
Fact-check flags: access, school and healthcare routes, building features and available assistance vary and change. Verify the specific layout and services in person; this is not an accessibility certification or medical advice.
Compare properties before you buy
Start with the location and buying goal. Compare handover dates, ownership options and payment terms; confirm the current price and availability for the selected unit.
